PORTALES, NEW MEXICO -- A Portales man injured at the Sunland Plant last month has died. The Portales News Tribune reports that Manuel Alvarez-Alonso, 39, died Monday after spending two weeks on life support.
Alvarez-Alonso was injured when a 2000 pound bag of peanuts fell on him, in what Sunland Officials call a freak accident.
Friends and family remember him as a hard-working family man.
