Goals are set high for non-profit
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- $5.2 million may seem like a lot of money to raise for the United Way this year, but campaign leaders are confident that they will reach that goal.
The goal was announced at the United Way 2009 Campaign Kickoff Luncheon at the Amarillo Civic Center.
We asked Campaign Co-Chairman, Greg Meyer how the United Way expects to reach their goal, in our failed economy.
"It is a rough economy, and this is a tough time for everybody but for those who have jobs that are able to contribute anything just think about those people who don't. Think about that single mother that hungry child or that person who doesn't know where they're going to sleep tonight."
Meyer said he thinks, the greater the recession, the greater the need is in our community.
