Session first to be held in Amarillo
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the first time in it's history Amarillo is playing host to a group the state's legislators depend on.
The Texas Silver-Haired Legislation is holding a general session at the Ambassator Hotel this week.
Since this year was a year of legislative session for the state the TSHL is discussing a game-plan and general house keeping for the next session in 2011.
But according to officials, these meetings are necessary to get ready to present legislation for laws that are important to seniors.
"We very recently got the Silver Alert passed that is a companion to the Amber Alert. It didn't really cost the state any money because it's just duplicating the same signs and procedures used for alerting the population when we have a lost child, well this is for when we have a lost senior." TSHL Member Alan Abraham said.
The session lasts this week through Thursday.
