Tribute honors those who have fallen in the line of duty
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The community of Dumas held a special ceremony to welcome the American Veterans Traveling Tribute.
The tribute honors those who have fallen in the line of duty from World War I to present day Iraq and Afghanistan.
One of the highlights of the display is the Vietnam Wall which shows the names of 58,253 fallen heroes from that war.
"Seeing one of your loved ones, your brother, your uncle, your cousin, your father, your mother on this wall it gives you the ability, for a long time it's been there and everything else, you can't put it totally to rest, but it gives you the ability to then to at least maybe to put it down a little bit, so it makes it easier on a day to day basis," said David Rehkopf of the American Legion Post 224.
Several members of Post 224 were taken down to the museum for the ceremony which included a fly over by some vintage aircraft from wars past.
The display will be open 24 hours a day until Sunday the 27th, and the closing ceremonies will take place at 4 P.M.
