The county of Lubbock has gone from dry to wet, but it has nothing to do with mother nature.

LUBBOCK,TEXAS -- For the first time, Lubbock is now a wet county, meaning people there can sell alcohol at stores.

Wednesday morning, alcohol distribution trucks began unloading their goods at stores around the area.

Voters decided back in May that they would like to be able to buy alcohol in Lubbock County, and the first sales began yesterday.

Alcohol opponents say sales in the county will lead to a rise in child abuse , spousal abuse, and drunk driving accidents, but pro-alcohol residents say expanding sales is going to be a huge boost for Lubbock's economy, by strengthening the tax base and creating jobs.
