AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man facing the death chamber on Wednesday for killing three teens more than 10 years ago has filed a motion to stay his execution.
John Lezell Balentine's motion to stay his execution was denied by a Federal Court in Amarillo. Balentine has appealed that decision to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Supreme Court.
A Potter County Jury convicted Balentine of killing Edward Caylor, 17, Kai Brooke Geyer, 15, and Steven Watson, 15.
Caylor was the brother of Balentines former girlfriend.
