Health officials say a Tulsa County youth has died from influenza A, but they don't know if it was a case of swine flu.

TULSA, OKLA.. (AP) -- In a statement released Friday, Tulsa Health Department officials said the victim was under the age of 18, but didn't specify the person's age or gender.

In the statement, Tulsa Health Department interim Director Reggie Ivey referred to the victim as a "child."

Officials said additional laboratory tests will be needed to confirm if the influenza A strain is swine flu. Officials said they don't know if the child had any underlying health conditions.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Web site, Oklahoma is among 27 states reporting widespread influenza activity as of Friday.
