AMARILLO, TEXAS -- You may have heard a lot of pharmacies in America are running low on seasonal flu vaccines but is that true in Amarillo?
Reps we talked with say if a pharmacy requested a lot of vaccine in its initial order earlier this year appear to have plenty, but some either didn't order a lot of vaccines, or didn't get the big order they asked for.
Most pharmacies won't get a second order right now since pharmaceutical companies are making the h1n1 vaccine rather than the seasonal variety.
The folks at United Pharmacy say they have around 700 doses at Market Street and a good supply at the Bell location. However, United Supermarkets in smaller towns like Dalhart are out.
The company is working to re-allocate some of its supply.
At Walgreen's, we were told as of Monday the pharmacy on Georgia is out of shots.
While it's other Amarillo stores are running out quickly, and aren't sure if or when they'll get more.
The people at Martin Tipton Pharmacy tell us they've run out and are waiting on the next shipment, which may come the middle of the month.
Southpark Pharmacy employees say they have none left, but hope to get more the end of this week or next, for sure.
Then there's D & S pharmacy, who ran out yesterday morning. They expect to have more by the end of the month.
