Ford introduces new technology that gives parents more control
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- We tell them to drive safely, buckle up, and obey the speed limit, but what if you could have a bit more control over your teenagers driving?
Ford has rolled out a programmable key called "my-key" that allows a vehicle administrator to control several aspects of that car's driving.
The administrator's key can set how fast the vehicle can go, how loud the stereo can be, and can remind the driver to be safe at certain speeds.
Then, when the MyKey is in the ignition those limitations activate on the vehicle.
Sales Consultant for Gene Messer Ford Jon Turk told ProNews 7 that the technology is for parents who trust their children to drive, but want to set limitations, and that if parents do not want to use it--the technology can always be turned off.
Turk also recommended that the MyKey be used for valet parking, or whenever drivers lend their vehicles out to friends or family members.
