Police in Indianapolis say a 16-year-old boy from Booker was critically injured this afternoon after he fell at a mall. He was there to participate in the FFA downtown convention.
Police are investigating the accident at the Circle Center Mall. He sustained blunt trauma injuries after falling 41 feet from the top of the escalator on the third level.
The 16 year old was believed to be sitting on the railing where it met the moving hand rail for the escalator when he lost his balance.
Police say witnesses reported that he also struck the rail on the second level as he fell. He was transported to Methodist Hospital where he remains in critical condition. His parents have been notified and are flying to Indianapolis at this time.
