AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Caprock High School and Wills Elementary School have both been notified by the Texas Education Agency that their accountability rating appeals have been granted. Caprock High moves from Academically Unacceptable to Academically Acceptable, and Wills Elementary moves from Recognized to Exemplary.

Based on academic performance, Caprock students met all Academically Acceptable standards. The school was given the Academically Unacceptable rating because of one former student who was designated as a "non-completer." Caprock submitted evidence in their appeal showing the individual is now enrolled in college, so that person does not classify as a "non-completer."

Wills was given the Recognized rating based on some score coding errors on the 5th grade math test. TEA also granted this appeal based on the evidence of the errors.

"These granted appeals recognize the work and achievement of our students and teachers," said Superintendent Rod Schroder. "We are pleased that the new ratings better reflect the progress at these two campuses
