DIMMITT, TEXAS -- Former State Senator and Comptroller John Sharp says he wants Kay Bailey Hutchison's U.S. Senate Seat if she decides to run for Governor.

The Democratic candidate told the people in Dimmitt today why he would be the man to vote for. Sharp went to Dimmitt to speak to the Farm Bureau.

He says he has long been a big supporter of agriculture, and that as a proud Conservative Democrat he has one interest in mind, that's the entire state of Texas.

John Sharp said, "I've always been someone who looks out for Texas in this country as opposed to the parties interest. If you want to vote for somebody that believes in their party more than Texas, then you got a lot of choices in the race, but I'm not of them."

If you're in the Tulia area tonight, Sharp has an engagement at the Swisher County Farm Bureau at 6:30 p.m.
