Working Ranch Cowboys Association say rodeo was a big success
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For 14 years Amarillo has played host to the World Championship Ranch Rodeo which is put on by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association.
Sunday's finals included team penning, bronc riding, and branding, all chores that these real working ranch cowboys do daily back home on the ranch.
A packed crowd cheered on 24 ranches from all over the country to make this years rodeo a big success.
"We broke all of our attendance records again this year, when everybody said the economy is bad, well it's not bad here, it's been wonderful! All of our vendors are having a great year, our seats are all sold out, it's been a beautiful year to have the world championships here in Amarillo," said Randy Whipple the President of the Working Ranch Cowboys Association.
The money raised from this weekend's rodeo helps pay scholarships for ranch kids, and supports ranchers in times of crisis to help them keep their ranches.
