President John F. Kennedy was assassinated 46 years ago in Dallas on a day that also saw people trying to go forward with their lives after the tragedy.

DALLAS (AP) -- Kennedy was killed on Nov. 22, 1963. That same day the wedding of Sharon Boyd, of McKinney, was already scheduled. Boyd told The Dallas Morning News Sunday that she was headed to the beauty salon when her father called to say the president had been shot.

Her husband Larry Boyd, an attorney, says there were so many people who had come from out of town that the wedding couldn't be canceled. It went forward that evening at Perkins Chapel at Southern Methodist University.

She remembers watching television with her husband two days later when Jack Ruby murdered accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald.

She says it "was a terrible, surreal weekend."
