A Vietnam era F-100 fighter jet made an unusual trip Sunday morning
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It was quite an unusual site Sunday morning, a Vietnam era F-100 fighter jet made an unusual trip across Amarillo behind a semi truck.
The aircraft, which will be a permanent display at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial, traveled 18 miles from Rick Husband International Airport to Ron Bower Construction on South Georgia. There it will be prepared and placed on a pedestal before moving to it's home at the memorial.
"It's going to be a really nice landmark for the war memorial and a compliment for it," said Fred Rangel, Texas Panhandle War Memorial.
"It served this nation well and survived the war and it's here in Amarillo, we're very pleased with it," said Randall County Judge, Ernie Houdashell.
