Credit deadline extended
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The recently approved homebuyer tax credit has helped home sales.
According to the National Association of Realtors, the credit brought an additional 26,900 buyers into the market. The association predicts that 189,200 Texans will be able to take advantage of the tax credit.
The program allows a credit of up to $8,000 to first-time home buyers until April 30, 2010. The newly approved program expanded the credit up to a $6,500 credit to current homeowners purchasing a new or existing home between November 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010.
