If your trying to decide what to buy the guy who has everything or the woman in your life Texas DMV has a suggestion for you.
For the first time the My Plates program offers Texans a chance to give plates as a gift.
It works two ways. Go to www.myplates.com. If you want to choose the plate design and combination yourself, then you can order the plate and enter the address and county of the person who will be receiving it. If you'd rather let the recipient choose a plate, then there's a gift card option. Either way, you can create a plate and print it out on paper as a preview of the unique gift to come. It takes about three weeks for the plate to arrive at a county tax assessor's office, so if you want to present the actual plate as a gift, you'll need to order in the next few days. My plates come in many different colors and designs, and range from $55 to $195 for a one-year-plate. Prices depend on how many letters and numbers you need to spell out the combination you want on your plate.
