First ever event that combines a casual ride, coffee, all to benefit the High Plains Food Bank
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The first ever Coffee Crawl, combines a nice casual bike ride around town, a tour of the local coffee shops, and it's all to benefit the High Plains Food Bank.
"This time of the year when so many of us have more than enough to eat, it's good to think about those people who don't enjoy the luxuries a lot of us have, so it was an easy decision to make a donation to the food bank," said Ken Graham, Old Tascosa Cycling Club.
With a high demand, and the holidays right around the corner, this unique fundraiser came along at a critical time for the food bank.
"Our food is actually down, because there is a greater need this year, so we really hope the community will reach out to us and reach into their pockets, into their hearts and give to the less fortunate," said Maria DeBrango Stickel.
Riders started at the Ground Cafe inside the Chase Tower, grabbed a quick cup of joe and set off down Polk St. to Bike Life for a sample from the 806 Coffee House. The group then swarmed the Hardback at Hastings on Georgia before heading back to the Ground Cafe. The idea is to blend a tour of the local coffee shops with a fundraiser for the food bank.
