How did locally owned shops do this past weekend

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Nationwide more shoppers turned out on black Friday, but early reports show they spent less than last year. Pronews Seven spoke to several Amarillo businesses to see how the weekend went.

Most shoppers started off by hitting the big retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy, but by mid morning Friday and throughout the weekend, locally owned shops saw steady traffic and so far sales look good.

"We've been anticipating that it would be up actually, all of our indicators coming into the holiday have been up, not drastically up but up, and so we felt like this weekend would probably show that to be true, and it did," said Cynthia Allison, GM of Silverland and Hill's Hallmark.

Local shops also mentioned that they are pricing for value, since shoppers are going to be budgeting and looking for that good local deal this holiday season.
