AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Happy birthday to The Bridge! Amarillo's first child abuse prevention center turned 20 years old today.

The Bridge serves 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle and has helped over 20,000 kids recover from abuse. Officials say the children are the priority.

They hope that in helping them through the hard times, they can also protect future generations.

The Bridge Development Director, Emily Ellis said, "many times we find that people who are abusing children were once abused themselves, so by giving these children the tools that they need to get over their trauma we are helping future generations."
