We have an update tonight on the twin engine aircraft that crashed near Port Mansfield off the Texas Gulf Coast.

Authorities tell us the search continues for a second person on board. However, the cockpit area of the twin engine aircraft has been recovered.

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Johnny Hernandez says the body of Robert James Robinett, 48, of Sunray was found in the water Friday.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the Federal Aviation Administration called just after midnight Thursday that it had lost communication and radar contact with the plane.

Trooper Hernandez said they were assisted by coast guard helicopters today in the search that took place on land and water, however, since it is now being called a recovery process, the search has been suspended until 7 a.m. tomorrow.

The aircraft was headed for Port Mansfield after leaving from Borger on Thursday evening.
