AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Texas Rangers have been asked to investigate an officer involved shooting in Dumas.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Safety, police received a call just after 9:00 p.m. Thursday night. The 911 operator could hear a woman screaming in the background, the responding officer was confronted by a 38 year-old male upon arriving to the scene. A preliminary investigation by the Rangers said the suspect pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the officer, the officer then shot the suspect and rendered assistance to the female. Both the male and the female were taken to the Moore County Hospital, where the male was pronounced dead. The female was treated for her injuries and it expected to be o.k.
An autopsy has been ordered, the Texas Rangers will continue to investigate the incident.
