How will increasing chances of snow impact holiday travel
AMARILLO -- Holiday travelers are gearing up for this week's vacation, and according to AAA Texas, over 6-million Texans are expected to travel more than 50 miles from home. For Panhandle travelers, the increasing chances for snow later this week may impact holiday travel plans.
As of Monday, there is a chance for snow Wednesday evening going into Christmas Eve.
AAA Texas officials are reminding folks to be prepared and plan ahead.
"If you're planning to go out and your plans are to be out driving during snowy conditions, one of the things you want to make sure is that your vehicle is in good working condition, today, tomorrow, spend some time in the next couple of days making sure your vehicle is in good working order," said Dan Ronan, AAA Texas.
According to AAA officials, the weather may force travelers to leave a bit earlier than planned, but most are willing to brave the snow storm to get to their holiday destination.
As always, flashlights, blankets, water, snacks, and a portable radio device are all items you may want to include in an emergency kit for your vehicle.
