(AP) -- SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Environmental Department is investigating soil and groundwater pollution at two dairies in the state.
The department's Ground Water Quality Bureau has required the Elmira Dairy in southwest Albuquerque and the Othart Dairy No. 1 east of Veguita in Socorro County to submit plans to address the problems.
Authorities say the dairies discharge groundwater into evaporative lagoons and those discharges resulted in groundwater pollution.
