(AP) -- ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Weather is being blamed for a three-car crash on U.S. 285 in Santa Fe County that killed one person, while another pileup closed Interstate 40 near Albuquerque.
Santa Fe County sheriff's deputies say a sports utility vehicle spun out on icy U.S. 285 and crashed head-on into a second vehicle, which was then hit by a third vehicle behind it.
Bernalillo County deputies closed I-40 at Sedillo Hill because of a multi-car crash. It wasn't immediately known whether anyone was injured.
Wintery weather made for a tough commute in Albuquerque and other parts of the state because of icy roads left by a snowstorm.
The state Transportation Department reports intermittent rain and snow on Interstate 25 in the Albuquerque area and Interstate 10 in southern New Mexico.
