(AP) -- ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A 77-year-old man has been found dead near his truck in frigid temperatures in the mountains east of Albuquerque.

A passer-by noticed a truck abandoned near a N.M. 217 intersection about 6 a.m. Thursday and notified authorities.

Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies who investigated found the man's body about 300 yards from the truck.

Deputies say the truck probably slid of the road and got stuck in the snow, and the man tried to walk home.

His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The area received about 6 inches of snow overnight, and temperatures dropped to 25 degrees.

The state Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the cause of death.
