H1N1 vaccination clinics in outlying communities

The Texas Department of State Health Services will host several free H1N1 vaccination clinics outlying communities.

All clinics are open to the public and will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, January 5, Civic Center at City Park, 1901 McKinley Street, Levelland

Tuesday, January 5, Community Building, Club Room 802 10th St.,Wellington

Tuesday, January 5, O'Loughin Center, 502 Brant St.,Spearman

Thursday,January 7, Hemphill County Pavilion 1101 N. 6th St.,Canadian

Monday, January 11, Sherman County Barn, 501 S. Maple, Stratford

Wednesday, January 13, More County Community Center, Corner of East 16th and Maddox, Dumas

The health department says the shots are "recommended for all people who want to reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza and transmitting the flu to others." Groups that are highly recommended to get the shot are pregnant women, children 6 months to 2 years of age, people age 5 through age 64 with high-risk health condition, health care workers who provide direct patient care and those who are in close contact with infants 6 months or younger.

With supplies increasing, Texas health officials are now urging providers to offer the vaccine to the general population but to continue to ensure people in priority groups get the vaccine.
