GRUVER, TEXAS -- The Gruver Cemetery has been designated worthy of preservation by the Texas Historical Commission. The cemetery located on FM 278 was established in 1930. Officials with the Hansford County Historical Commission tell Pronews 7 they are talking to the THC in Austin in hopes of getting a historical marker, but they say they are still in their early stages.

Gruver was named for Joseph Hezekiah Gruver and his son Lawrence, in 1907 they established a ranch 9 miles west of what is now the town site. The post office was opened in 1927, the school in 1929, and Gruver incorporated in 1930.
