AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Texas Tech was also a beneficiary of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation today, receiving some seed money for a wind project of its own.
Tech owns about 6,000 acres south of Pantex and is in the midst of putting in a wind energy research farm on that land.
Today, the AEDC gave them $100,000, on top of 50,000 already presented to the university, to help move the project along.
David Miller, Texas Tech's Vice Chancellor of of Technology and Economic Development says, "It's the 1st element is a research farm with utilities and power that we can sell off to Pantex or any other entity, with the big part in wind related research at the site."
Production is expected to begin sometime in late 2012 or early in 2013.
