AMARILLO, TX -- The YMCA is urging folks across the panhandle to join their Fittest Member Contest.  The first weigh-in happened on Monday, but it's still not to late to join the 6 week program.

It's free for members and $25 for non-members.  YMCA says its' mission is to help families develop healthy lifestyles throughout the year.

"Working out is just a habit, and once that you develop that habit, i think studies show that after 6 weeks you really developed that habit and you continue to do it on your own," said Debbie Wright, the YMCA CEO.

The winner of the fitness contest wins a stay at the Ambassador Hotel with a late check out, free drinks, and even a free gift basket.
