AMARILLO, TEXAS -- This afternoon city officials unveiled Amarillo's new and state of the art Amarillo/Potter/Randall Emergency Operations Center or the EOC.

The facility is located in the basement of the Atmos building in downtown Amarillo and will help bring together emergency responders and jurisdiction decision makers to help coordinate an effective response.

Emergency Management Coordinator Kevin Starbuck said, "We have everything from satellite phones to normal communication to vhf/uhf radio systems,  to where we truly can communicate with everyone in the Texas Panhandle."

Starbuck also says the city can only be affective in an emergency if it's people are ready as well. To develop your own emergency plan click here.
