Hear what Potter County and Dick family attorneys have to say about the settlement
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- In a joint press conference held on Tuesday, attorneys from both Potter County and the Michael Dick family speak out about the settlement.
While neither side got everything they wanted; both sides feel that Dick's death will lead to positive changes in the Potter County jail.
"This is so important to them that there be acknowledgement of what happened to Michael, and the circumstances of it. Again we're very pleased with Potter County, being willing to settle this case and take steps to prevent this type of thing from happening again," said Chris Hoffman, Dick family attorney.
"We can always get better at what we do, making sure that they are safe, making sure they are protected, making sure that their medical and mental needs are met as far as reasonably can be done," said Scott Brumley, Potter County Attorney.
Michael Dick died in July of 2008 while in custody at the Potter County jail.
