Plans to revitalize downtown Amarillo are in full swing, and one local restaurant will be part of it. The building used to be a department store, but it closed in the 1980's.

And now, Acapulco's is planning to turn the old blackburn building into a three-level venue.

The first level will feature a night club, the second a VIP room, and the third a private room that can be booked for weddings or parties.

They say Polk Street is downtown's main road, and they just want to be part of it. "We're excited about being part of amarillo, we like amarillo, this is where we are, where we live, and we have a family, and uh, we feel that we're doing this more for the city, than we are doing it for ourselves," said Ronnie Guerra, the Acapulco Bar Manager.

The new building will be called, "Acapulco Nights."  Groundbreaking is expected in one month, and the building should be finished in less than a year.
