One Amarillo couple shares their wisdom in the matters of love and appreciating your sweetheart
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Love and romance are in the air; as many people celebrate Valentines Day with that special sweetheart. Pronews Seven visited with one couple who was struck by cupid more than 50 years ago.
Doyce and Judy Jones have spent 52 Valentines Days with each other, and they were gracious enough to share some of their wisdom in the matters of love and appreciating your sweetheart.
"Living with each other, learning with each other, and accepting the bad with the good," said Judy Jones, who enjoyed a Valentines brunch.
"Respect for each other, that is the thing; as long as you respect each other and love each other you'll be doing just fine. You'll make 50 years just fine, and longer," said Doyce Jones, Treated sweetheart to brunch at BL Bistro.
On a day where lovers express their affection with flowers, confectionary, and greeting cards; Doyce has a secret weapon, and it's good advice for all men.
"Pay attention, that's the main thing, pay attention and that a way you'll be prepared to go get something when you need it," said Doyce.
"He listens, whenever I say Oh isn't that pretty I like that; he listens, he pretty much hits the spot every holiday," said Judy.
It truly begins with the desire to treat your sweetheart right on a day set aside for love.
"It's sweethearts day, it's a day to enjoy each other and enjoy some things that are not ordinary that you don't do everyday," said Judy.
"It's a day of basically I think respect for each other. It's where you show your love and appreciation for each other on that day," said Doyce.
"All of you sweethearts out there, get out and enjoy the day and enjoy each other," said Judy.
