Missing boy found

AMARILLO -- Randall County authorities say that 11-year-old John Powers has been found. Danny Alexander with the Randall County Sheriff's department says Powers was found shortly after ten Wednesday night. A citizen saw him walking home and flagged down a deputy, who then took him home.

In the Lake Tanglewood area  Wednesday night, authorities were searching for a missing boy. Eleven year-old John Powers was dropped off by his church bus in the 1200 block of Rocker K, in the Richland Acres area.

Powers thought he was in trouble by the church, so instead of going home, officers say Powers wandered around.

A call to police was placed at 6:45 p.m. a helicopter crew, officers with thermal heat sensors on the ground, and two K-9 units were out looking for the boy.

John is four foot six, 80 pounds, and is wearing a blue "Greenways" t-shirt with the number 2017 on the back.
