America Supports You Texas and the Don Harrington Discovery Center put on the event
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- As the Don Harrington Discovery Center closed up shop on Sunday, the fun was actually just getting started. America Supports You Texas and the Discovery Center hosted a special evening of fun just for area military families.
The event was free, and included pizza and door prizes like a Nintendo Wii, but it also allowed military families to meet other families they can relate to.
"It's just me and my son here in Amarillo, we don't have any family, we came here and didn't have any friends, so it's nice when America Supports You has an event such as this that brings other military people that you don't necessarily work with together. You can meet other people, you kind of have an extended family in a town full of strangers, so it is very nice to have that," said Venessa Hernandez.
The families had access to all of the exhibits including a show in the space theatre. The Discovery Center donated the entire building for Sunday's event.
