TEMPLE, Texas (AP) - A 20-foot deep sinkhole in Temple has closed a bridge and forced drivers to use other routes.

Police say the sinkhole, which is about 6-feet wide, turned up late Saturday at a bridge over Bird Creek, near the Wildflower Golf Course.

No injuries have been reported.

Temple city officials believe rain, erosion and creek water may have caused the opening.

The Texas Department of Transportation and other engineers will assess the bridge and roadway to figure out a fix.

Temple is about 60 miles northeast of Austin.
