HOUSTON (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted a Harris County sheriff's deputy, accusing him of accepting money to reveal confidential law enforcement information.
The sealed indictment opened Wednesday accuses 42-year-old Kurt Douglas Green of Hockely of taking pay to provide confidential information from various sheriff's office databases, including the National Crime Information Center. The statement issued by the U.S. attorney's office in Houston does not specify who received the information or made the payment.
According to the statement, Green was arrested without incident Wednesday morning. Messages left with a U.S. attorney's spokeswoman weren't returned Wednesday, the statement says Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia cooperated with the investigation.
Sheriff's spokesman Alan Bernstein says Green's job status is under review. Green has been with the Harris County Sheriff's Office since 1996.
