Choir performed at St. Stephen United Methodist Church on Sunday
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- In two weeks, the Amarillo Girl Choir will be traveling overseas to Madrid, Spain; they will be performing at several famous Spanish cathedrals during their Espana 2010 tour.
The choir is made up of 70 plus girls (ages 9 to 14) from communities from all over the Panhandle. They've been rehearsing and planning for a year, and soon the choir will share a bit of the Panhandle spirit with the people of Spain.
"Music overcomes all cultural boundaries and we feel like this tour gives our girls an opportunity to not only sample the Spanish culture from Spain, but also allows us to share a little bit of our culture with them through the art of music," said Katrina Perales, Executive Director, Amarillo Youth Choirs.
As a final warm up, the choir performed their "Adios y Vaya Con Dios" concert at St. Stephen United Methodist Church on Sunday.
The Espana 2010 tour will be the 2nd international tour for the Amarillo Girl Choir. In 2006, they visited and performed in Germany and Austria.
