(AP) -- SANTA FE, N.M. — Schools in Santa Fe have used up their allotted snow delay minutes this year and may have to add makeup days later in the year.
The unusually snowy winter had led to two complete days of snow closures, five delays in school day start time and two days where the district released students early.
Santa Fe Public Schools Superintendent Bobbie Gutierrez estimates it has been about 16 years since the district has had so many closings and delays. The district is nearly a full day above it allotted weather delay buffer.
The district will assess how much extra time it may need to add when winter winds down in a few weeks.
