FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - An Army psychiatrist charged in the worst mass shooting on a U.S. military installation will be moved to the Bell County Jail near Fort Hood.
Maj. Nidal Hasan faces 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder over the November shootings.
Gunfire from civilian police stopped Hasan, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.
Hasan's Article 32 hearing, similar to a grand jury proceeding, it set for June 1 at Fort Hood.
Hasan will be transferred from a San Antonio military hospital and housed in the jail's medical unit.
Hasan attorney John Galligan says his client could be transferred this week by helicopter. Galligan says doctors say Hasan's physical therapy is finished.
Bell County has a contract with Fort Hood to house military suspects. The 650-bed jail in Belton opened about a year ago.
