BELTON, Texas (AP) - A Temple man who last year confessed to the 1994 shooting death of his wife faces prison after pleading guilty to murder.
The penalty phase was to begin Tuesday in Belton for 55-year-old Milton Britt Crowe.
Crowe on Monday pleaded guilty to the July 1994 slaying of his 47-year-old wife, Linda, whose body was found along a road outside Nolanville. She was shot in the back of the head.
The medical transcriptionist at Scott & White Memorial Hospital originally was reported missing by her husband, who said she did not return from a walk.
The cold case drew attention in April 2009 when Crowe, encouraged by his minister, confessed to a Bell County sheriff's investigator.
Investigators say Crowe had been a suspect but there was not enough evidence to pursue charges.
