AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man has been turned over to the FBI in connection with an armed robbery at an Amarillo bank Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:30 PM, Amarillo police say 24-year-old Joshua Stephen Urban used a small caliber handgun to rob the First Bank Southwest at 5701 SW 34th.

Witnesses were able to tell authorities that the man left the scene in a blue or gray SUV and provide a license plate number.  Police tracked the vehicle to the Canyons at 45th apartment complex a short time later.

Officers found that the owner of the car had an apartment there. After several attempts to get a response from someone in the apartment, Urban exited the apartment and was detained.

Amarillo police turned Urban over to the FBI, where he will face federal bank robbery charges.
