AMARILLO, TX -- ProNews Seven reported on Bank of America announcing the potential end of overdraft fees, and how its customers won't be able to spend more than what's in their accounts. But the policy at Amarillo National Bank is different. It's sending out forms, basically asking customers if they want to opt-in for the overdraft protection.
The bank says if you try to use your debit card, and you have the protection, but don't have the cash, your transaction will still work.
"We're going to try and take care of our customers, by letting them tell us whether or not they want overdraft protection on their debit cards, it's as simple as that. Can you imagine being in the line of United Supermarket, you've got your basket full of groceries, you go to pay, and now your card doesn't work," said Stan Callahan, the Amarillo National Bank, Executive Vice President.
It's important to note that these forms from ANB will never ask for you social security number, your address, the number on your debit card, or your pin number.
