The Amarillo Police Department wants you to be aware of a false text message or email you maybe getting about National Gang Week.

The text or email may come to you saying it's from Tennessee or Missouri's Correctional Central Dispatch. It says if your driving and see a baby seat on the side of the road with blood on it to be aware. If you stop and help you will be attacked by gang members.

Brent Barbee from the APD says this couldn't be farther from the truth.

"I'm not familiar with anything to indicate that there is any truth to that at all. I've never seen a crime like that, and I don't think gangs get together and decide when to have a National Gang Week."

The APD wants you to delete this if you receive it through text or email.
