AMARILLO, TX -- There's a new growing frustration in this country with President Barack Obama's health care proposal. Senator Cornyn said it would raise taxes and insurance premiums, and take half a trillion dollars out of medicare.
Instead, he suggests letting people buy insurance from any state, and medical liability reform. One thing is clear, he wants to scrap this bill and start over, "I think this has become so tainted by all of the sweetheart deal, the cornhusker kickback, the Louisiana purchase, special deals with the pharmaceutical industries, it's been done all behind closed doors, and I think the best thing we can so is to put it on the shelf and to start over, and to do some step by step approaches that make a lot more sense, and that will actually bring down health care costs," said Cornyn, via Satellite interview.
Cornyn said he also wants to bring down border violence. In response to the murders of two U.S. citizens affiliated with the american consulate, Senators Cornyn and Hutchison sent President Obama a letter saying something needs to be done, requesting action at the Mexico-Texas border.
"President Calderon has done a heroic job in fighting the cartels, but he needs our help, and I think we need to have hearings, uh to determine just what else we ought to be doing that we're not doing now in order to make things safer for our citizens and to help our friends in Mexico," said Cornyn.
In his letter, he continued, saying immediate measures must be taken, including the temporary deployment of additional resources to help local officials protect their communities better.
