CANYON,TEXAS -- The Canyon High School teacher accused of having improper relations with a student has been charged with two counts of Improper Relationship Between Educator/Student.
Claudia Cruz, was a Spanish teacher at the high school. She was accused of having improper relations with a 16-year-old male student attending the school.
The Canyon Police presented the case to the Randall County District Attorney's office Wednesday, and the charges were filed.
The Randall County DA has recommended a bond in the case. Cruz is supposed to turn herself into authorities this week.
Canyon Police Chief Dale Davis said, "I feel that the Canyon Police Department has conducted a thorough fact finding investigation and presented the case to the Randall County D.A. The Canyon Independent School District has been very cooperative during our investigation and I commend them."
Officials with CISD tell us that Cruz resigned February 25th, citing personal reasons.
