Amarillo's next reality TV star may be a bowling alley
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Western Bowl has been a staple of entertainment in Amarillo for many years, but it may now be entertaining a national audience. The bowling alley is auditioning for a spot in a brand new reality television series called "The Alley".
Western Bowl has made it past the first couple of cuts, but to go further they have to shoot a short audition demo. The demo will show officials from Boutique TV or the Greif Company, that they have the characters to make for a great reality series.
"I really believe that Western Bowl is going to make the final cut and be on this show, there's some really colorful characters, both that work here and come through here everyday," said Larry Preddy, Hired to shoot video demo for Western Bowl.
If chosen, Western Bowl would be one of a dozen or so bowling centers that would be featured in six to twelve episodes each.
According to Preddy, Western Bowl's chances are enhanced by a city ready for the limelight. "This bowling center is what you might call a lens or maybe even a kaleidoscope, to look at all of Amarillo, and Amarillo itself is probably going to be one of the main characters in this show," said Preddy.
Preddy and Western Bowl have about 10 days to get the demo turned into Boutique TV officials. A month or six weeks later, they should have the next cut over with, and Boutique TV will send crews to the remaining finalists to spend a couple of days shooting a final demo. After that, if chosen, a crew would camp out at Western Bowl for a couple of months to shoot several episodes for the show.
The series "The Alley" is expected maybe late this fall, and there are plans to keep the show running for at least 3 seasons.
