CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a Clovis man has been sentenced to 18 years in state prison for cocaine trafficking.
Prosecutors say 43-year-old James Sneed Jr. was arrested after a drug task force executed a search warrant at his home in March 2009.
As agents entered the home, they say Sneed was trying to get dressed and had underwear in his hand. Authorities handcuffed Sneed and say a large bag of a white substance fell out of the underwear.
The state Crime Lab analyst testified during trial that the white substance was positively identified as cocaine. Agents also confiscated a second bag of cocaine, a bag of marijuana, and more than $1,600 in cash during the search.
Prosecutors say Sneed had past drug offenses before he was convicted by a Curry County jury last October. His sentencing was delayed until Thursday.
