Wind, snow make driving conditions hazardous

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The state transportation department is monitoring road conditions in the northern part of New Mexico.

Interstate 25 has difficult driving conditions with moderate snow falling and winds around 40 miles-an-hour.

Visibility is 1/8 of a mile from Raton to Raton Pass.

Crews are out plowing, salting and putting down cinders. Motorists should use caution and reduce their speed.

Elsewhere around the Raton area, New Mexico 526 has difficult driving conditions with three inches of snow. Crews are plowing and salting.

U.S. 64 has fair driving conditions and is snowing lightly. Winds are blowing at 19 miles-an-hour and there's a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of accumulation from mile marker 350 to mile marker 361.

Crews are plowing, salting and laying down cinders.
